Washington, DCAccess to primary care continues to be an issue for many Prince George’s residents: The County has 95 primary care providers per 100,000 residents, in comparison to 140 per 100,000 in the state as a whole. Further, physicians practicing in Prince George’s County are concentrated in areas near the County’s six hospitals, and not in areas of the County experiencing high numbers of unnecessary emergency room visits and preventable hospitalizations. Through a $1.5 million grant from CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) and other significant contributions, Mary’s Center will be able to expand its primary care and other family services for the County.

What:      Mary’s Center and key partners will hold a groundbreaking ceremony to announce the expansion of its services into Prince George’s County, in Maryland, with core financial support from CareFirst.

The new site will meet critical health care needs of Prince George’s residents and will improve the quality of life of its families.
