LATINO LEADERS NETWORK TO PRESENT INAUGURAL MAYOR ANTONIO VILLARAIGOSA AWARD DURING TRIBUTE TO MAYORS

 Washington, DC The Latino Leaders Network (LLN), a non-profit organization dedicated to “Bringing Leaders Together,” announced today that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa of Los Angeles will receive the inaugural Antonio Villaraigosa Leadership Award at its Tribute to Mayors reception to be held from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, June 15 in the Wantilan outdoor pavilion at the Loews Royal Pacific Hotel in Orlando, FL. Mayor Kevin Johnson of Sacramento, Mayor Michael Nutter of Philadelphia and former Mayor Manny Diaz of Miami will deliver tributes to Mayor Villaraigosa.                               

This exclusive event, held during the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) summer meeting, celebrating its 80th year this June will honor Villaraigosa, the current President of the USCM, for his commitment to bringing communities together. The Tribute to Mayors reception attracts a who's who of U.S. local leaders, policymakers, business leaders, as well as leaders from across the country.

"We are delighted to present the first Antonio Villaraigosa Leadership Award to Mayor Villaraigosa for his outstanding commitment to bringing communities together.  He has set the very highest standard of excellence by which all future awardees will be measured," said Mickey Ibarra, Founder and Chairman of the Latino Leadership Network.

The Latino Leaders Network™ is celebrating its ninth year of bringing leaders together. Started in 2003, the Tribute to Mayors is hosted by LLN during the winter and summer annual meetings of USCM.  Most recently, in January 2012, Mayor Angel Taveras of Providence and Mayor Annise Parker of Houston were honored. 

In addition to the Tribute to Mayors, LLN will host the Latino Leaders Luncheon Series during the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte and Republican National Convention in Tampa. Over 800 guests, including Latino delegates, community advocates, corporate representatives, and elected officials are expected to attend.
