Arlington, VA - Leadership Arlington will host ON BOARD!, a nonprofit board member training, on August 25th, 2009. The workshop will be held at WETA from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
ON BOARD!'s mission is to create capacity amongst Northern Virginia non-profits through education and training. Now, more than ever, board members need to have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities. From understanding financial stewardship to setting strategic goals, a trained board member is an effective board member.
"Our vision for the ON BOARD! program is to create a strong, sustainable non-profit community in Arlington and the Northern Virginia region through creating knowledgable, effective board members," says Betsy Frantz, President & CEO of Leadership Arlington. "There's a domino effect; When board members are well-trained, our community's non-profits are better able to serve the populations on which they focus, which results in a stronger, more vibrant community of citizens with fewer unmet needs."
