Baltimore, MDAccessing capital to implement green innovations and gaining visibility for innovative new developments are two major hurdles for many organizations seeking to move from idea to implementation. The Green Economy Business Opportunity Conference [GEBOC] on May 3 offers a platform for both. Competitive organizations with a need to highlight their product enhancements, innovations and new strategies still have an opportunity to submit a proposal to the GEBOC Innovator Contest.

GEBOC’s 2nd annual conference at the Sheraton Four Points at BWI Airport offers an audience of investors in the green economy, as well as minority, women and disadvantaged business leaders looking to grow their businesses with new technology, new innovations and new strategies.

To drive new technological development and the adoption of promising efficiency practices, the Presidents’ RoundTable and the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland have authorized the GEBOC Innovator Contest. The winner of the competition will take the spot light for the most innovative ideas, product developments and innovations that promote the use of technologies and strategies to enhance growth in the green economy.

With nearly half of all energy in the United States is used to light, heat and operate buildings, there is an enormous opportunity to enhance America’ energy independence. Energy independence also retains dollars in the national economy.

The competition supports original research projects, technologies, products, as well as approaches that demonstrate innovation and the promise of rigorous application in the green economy. Ideas that are practical and multi disciplinary, and that can have a catalytic effect on social, economic and environmental change are favored.

“We are encouraging proposals about areas ranging from smart grid integration, renewable energy and energy efficiency, green building design, urban planning, landscape design, waste to energy, urban agriculture, storm water management, and clean transportation to creative financial mechanisms/models for the development of green technologies and sustainable development” said Maria Beckett, President of the Presidents’ RoundTable. “This is an open invitation to highlight the products and strategies innovative organizations have on their desks and are looking to roll out.”

The new submission deadline is April 17 with notification for presentation to take place on April 19.
