Washington, DC - The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held its first government affairs committee meeting on at the GWHCC offices.
The purpose of this committee is to discuss important legislative issues in the DC Hispanic community. The chamber will be sending out a survey to assess what issues the members want the committee to get involved and to advocate for.
GWHCC’s president and CEO, Angela Franco, said, “The creation of this committee on government affairs is an initiative that will give a voice to Hispanic entrepreneurs in the metropolitan area. Thanks to the analysis and advocacy of this committee we will be able to better represent the interest of our community in the legislative arena.”
Mario Acosta-Velez, Director of Government and External Affairs, Verizon of Washington, DC, leads this committee. Members of the committee include: Ignacio Alvarez, attorney and counselor at Law, Alvarez Martinez Law Firm LLC; Antonio Arocho Esq., Attorney-at-Law, Arocho Law Office; and John Mario González, Government and Public Affairs Analyst and columnist. |
