DC Council Democratic Primary Results are Mostly In!

The DC 2020 Democratic Primary is now in the history books! Because of the coronavirus situation many people elected to vote by absentee ballot, so results are preliminary until all votes are counted. But there are still some announcements we can make.

In Ward 4, DCLC-endorsed candidate Janeese Lewis George crushed incumbent Brandon Todd 54% to 44% among the votes counted.

In Ward 7, incumbent and DCLC-endorsed candidate Vincent Gray defeated a crowded field with 46% of the vote.

Washington, DC - The DCLC also endorsed other candidates that ran uncontested races and who therefore won their primaries. They include Eleanor Holmes Norton for US Delegate to the US House of Representatives; Paul Strauss for US Senator, and Robert White for At-Large Council.

The DCLC regrets that the candidate we endorsed for Ward 2, John Fanning, will not win his race in the Democratic primary. The current front runners are Brooke Pinto and Patrick Kennedy with approximately 27% of the vote each, but only about 100 votes separate them at this time. This election cannot be called until the absentee ballots are counted.
