Ray Suarez & Maria Rosa Lucchini to co-moderate D.C. Latino Caucus Mayoral Debate with Bowser, Evans, Gray, Wells & full slate of Contenders

Washington, DC – The DC Latino Caucus, in partnership with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists – DC Chapter, the DC Asian American & Pacific Islanders Caucus [DCAAPI] and community partners including CapitalWirePR, will host a DC Mayoral candidates forum Saturday March 1st from 2 to 4pm at the Josephine Butler Center, 2437 15th St. NW, in Washington, DC.  Eight Democratic Party candidates have confirmed their participation including front running candidates Muriel Bowser, Jack Evans, Vincent Gray and Tommy Wells.  Also participating will be Carlos Allen, Reta Lewis, Vincent Orange and Andy Shallal.

In addition, the NAHJ Washington, D.C. Chapter Board has announced Ray Suarez from Al Jazeera America and Maria Rosa Lucchini from Noticias Washington, D.C. will co-moderate the Mayoral Forum.  The debate will be broadcast live on NBCWashington.com and at http://www.dclc.org/itv.htm.

The Moderators:

Maria Rosa Lucchini co-anchors the 6 and 11 PM newscasts at Univision Washington, D.C. She joined Univision Washington in 1999. She covered the September 11th terrorist attacks in Washington and the case of the D.C. Snipers. She also covers immigration, politics and news that affects the Latino community in the District, Maryland, and Virginia.

Ray Suarez hosts Inside Story weeknights on Al Jazeera America from its Washington Bureau. He presents national and international stories. He most recently served as Chief National Correspondent for PBS NewsHour. Suarez was inducted in the National Association of Hispanic Journalists Hall of Fame in 2010. He has written books on politics, religion, and the history of Latino Americans.
