Washington, DC – Dr. Juan Andrade Jr., President of the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI), will keynote the Latino Leaders Luncheon Series™ hosted by the Latino Leaders Network (LLN) on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in Washington, DC. He will also receive the Eagle Leadership Award for his outstanding contributions to the Latino community.

“Dr. Andrade serves as an inspiration for both young and old. He has had a powerful impact on countless people's lives,” states Mickey Ibarra, LLN Founder and Chairman.

Having dedicated his life to public service, Dr. Andrade was honored by President Bill Clinton with a Presidential Medal "for the performance of exemplary deeds of service for the nation" and "promoting leadership and civic participation". Led by Dr. Andrande, USHLI is a Chicago-based nonprofit that has developed into one of the most powerful, nationally and internationally recognized Latino organizations in the country by organizing and conducting nonpartisan voter registration and leadership development programs in 40 states.

The program will feature an honoree introduction from Congressman Luis Gutiérrez, whose longtime friendship with Dr. Andrade dates back to when Gutierrez, after losing his first campaign for Ward Committeeman, joined USHLI as their Chicago Coordinator nearly 30 years ago. He was later elected to the Chicago City Council before being elected to Congress. Now in his eleventh term in the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Gutiérrez has established himself as an effective legislator and energetic spokesman on behalf of his constituents in Illinois' Fourth District in the heart of Chicago. Gutiérrez, tireless leadership championing the causes of the Latino and immigrant communities has earned him widespread acclaim throughout the country.
Mary Ann Gomez, Executive Director of the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI), will be the featured community partner, which is dedicated to fostering a broad awareness of the diversity of thought, heritage, interests and views of Americans of Hispanic and Portuguese descent. Founded by Members of Congress, CHLI has focused its efforts on developing and strengthening tomorrow’s leaders, and has funded close to a $1,000,000 in educational programs.

The Latino Leaders Luncheon Series™ consists of quarterly events convened in Washington, DC and other cities to provide a platform for prominent Latino leaders to share their personal story of obstacles overcome to achieve success and to provide a network opportunity for elected officials, policy makers, corporate executives, opinion leaders, community activists, industry experts, and political insiders.
