LATINA Style, Inc. Presents the LATINA Style Business Series Tour in Seattle, WA, May 26, 2016 Co-chairing

Washington, DC - LATINA Style, Inc., the premier company addressing the needs of professional Latinas in the United States, will host the 18th Annual LATINA Style Business Series Tour on Thursday, May 26, 2016 in Seattle, WA. The award winning program, sponsored by Nationwide, is designed for Latina entrepreneurs across the nation. Participants will have the opportunity to network, learn about business ownership, and receive educational leadership empowerment seminars created to benefit Latina professionals and entrepreneurs.

Co-chairing the Business Series is Dr. Sandra Madrid, PHD, University of Washington, and Richard Romero, President and CEO, Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union. Dr. Madrid is serving part-time as Special Assistant to the Vice President for Minority Affairs and Vice Provost for Diversity at the University of Washington. She retired from the University Of Washington School Of Law in August of 2013. She joined the Law School in 1989 and served as Assistant Dean for Students and Community Outreach for over 20 years and also served as Senior Advisor to the Dean for Diversity and Community Engagement.  She received her Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Washington and her B.A. from Colorado State University in Pueblo.  "It was my distinct honor to meet Ana Maria Arias and Robert Bard in 1994 when they launched LATINA Style Magazine,” said Dr. Madrid. “I am humbled to be part of their continuing vision to assist in enhancing the Latina experience.  To be part of the LATINA Style Business Series is a privilege.  The attendees will have the opportunity to learn from experts in the field and to join the ranks of the fast growing Latina Entrepreneurs in the country,"

Richard Romero is the President and CEO of Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union. His introduction to banking came from his mother, who worked at a bank while he was growing up in Peru. Her understanding of how banks work greatly eased their transition when they relocated to the United States several years later.  Romero has worked at nearly every position in different financial institutions all along the West Coast – Great Western Bank, Fidelity Federal Bank, Washington Mutual, and Telesis Community Credit Union. Through hard work and unfailing commitment to service he was promoted to COO at Firefighters First Credit Union in Los Angeles and then CEO of SMCU in 2012.
