Washington, DC – For the third consecutive night, Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has ordered a city wide curfew starting early this evening, Tuesday, at 7pm, through 6am on Wednesday morning. The DC National Guard continues it mobilization to assist the Metropolitan Police Department in maintaining peaceful order.

With the city under curfew, Metro will cease rail service at 8pm and bus services at 9pm.

Following the use of tear gas on peaceful protestors and the forceful expulsion of priests at St. John’s Episcopal Church at Lafayette Square to make way for President Trump’s photo op the Arlington County, Virginia’s Board has directed the police to withdraw from DC.  The Board found the tear gassing  for President Trump’s photo op “a purpose not worthy of our mutual aid obligations.”

Earlier today Catholic Archbishop Wilton Gregory of Washington, DC took issue with President Trump’s photo op visit to the Saint John Paul II National Shrine near Catholic University. The Archbishop said “I find it baffling and reprehensible that any Catholic facility would allow itself to be so egregiously misused and manipulated in a fashion that violates our religious principles, which call us ot defend the rights of all people, even those with whom we might disagree.”

Over 300 arrests have been made by the District's MPD during the protests. MPD investigative units are now pursuing vandals caught on film or identified by protestors as perpetrators. Further arrests are expected.
