Argentine Festival USA to take place May 16th in Arlington, VA

Arlington, VA - Brimming with authentic foods, crafts and top Tango, Pop and folkloric performers directly from Argentina, the 27th Annual ARGENTINE FESTIVAL takes place on SATURDAY MAY 16, 2015, at 4:00pm at Thomas Jefferson Theater, 125 South Old Glebe Road, Arlington, Virginia. A menu of choice Argentinean foods with Alfajores and the famous Chori-pan for sale by IlBastone and Empanadas and Steak Gauchito Grill of Chef Celso and Café Valencia with Smoothies will be available for purchase. MC's Jenny Urdininea will host the event. Highlights include the U.S. Debut of Argentina's 21th Century "Violinisto"”LE LE”  LOVATO.  This year marks the 100th birthday of Leandro Lovato’s idol, Don Sixto Palavecino. In homage, Lovato is creating works in which Argentine roots, indigenous languages, and culture have important roles.

 U.S. Debut of LUNA SURENA;   Folklore Argentino from Patagonia Young neuquina singer, sweet vocal sense, LUNA SURENA, will be conducting a tour of various parts of the world to present their latest album "VIENTO". She managed to be recognized outside the country for the quality and warmth of their performances, and a prominent and successful musical career. The artist depicts the Argentine folklore abroad at various festivals, and stages of the continent. This time will be on stage at the Argentine Festival in the Washington DC area of USA.  FRANCISCO CUESTAS, in his first Tour USA as “Solist” singer.  Besides being a musician and producer got involved in different record materials, video clip productions, television programs, artistic and musical events at festivals and theaters, soundtracks for documentaries, shorts and feature films as well as curtains program’s. Distinguished Visitor by DADE County in Miami, Francisco launches a musical project in which he plays his own songs and proposing a different sound. Under the seal of Utopia, "Another Story" is the name of the First CD of Francisco Cuestas as “soloist” that will be released very soon...

EDGARDO LEON. Tango career professional singer, for 26 years in Medellin in the Tributes to CARLOS GARDEL and for the Ministry of Culture of MEDELLIN as representative of COLOMBIA for all tango Embassies coming from ARGENTINA with ORQUESTAS such as JORGE DRAGONE and QUINTET "THE CABURE".

DANIEL BOUCHET is famous Argentine Tango Singer and showman that will participate by popular demand in the Thomas Jefferson Theater with personality, manly approach, and a great tanguero voice that will do a humble tribute to Anibal Troilo "Pichuco” in his centennial anniversary and to the international music.

CRISTIAN PEREZ’S QUINTET, guitar, Yana Hristova, flute, Emmanuel Trifilio, bandoneón, Daniel Brown, contrabass, and Bruno Lucini, drums. Defying all musical labels, Argentine guitarist/composer Cristian Perez fuses Zamba, Candombe, Chacarera, Tango, and Andean music with Jazz, Classical, and folk music from all over the world, revealing the universality of music with his ardent quintet. Cristian presents original compositions and arrangements of pieces of different styles with a quintet that can be called a jazz combo, a world music band, a chamber ensemble, or all of the above.  Carlos Gutierrez, Tango Instructor, Performer, Choreographer, &Author has been professionally teaching and performing Argentine tango over thirty years in the Washington DC area and around the world. He is also the author of “The Body Language of Dance”, “Wisdom In Action” and his forthcoming book “You Are not Here Alone In this Universe” this 2015!! He will be dancing with Stephanie Brown.

We will showcase great top artists on-stage program and you will have the great opportunity to shop at the Festival's ExhibitorFest Featuring Unique handmade products from Argentina. This fun annual event features tango, dances, rock, pop and various instruments, styles and high level local talent of tangos, folklore, amateur tango teaching, guitar, ballads, pop, and more! This annual spectacular night of live celebration of tango, dances pop, and rock and folklore music.  Some well-known local tango dancers complete the program, including   Luis Angel a tribute to the tango dancer; Liza and Alexey Semyonov participates in Tango events in the Metropolitan area of DC and Salvatore in Pop events and was recently awarded recognition for Life Time Career by very prestigious organizations of the DC's area and will do the show “Remember is Living”.

As prelude of the festival we will also feature an exhibition that showcases arts and crafts from Argentina and Latin-America, jewelry makers, tourism, photography by Stan Weinstein, a silent auction of Arts and Crafts Exhibition directed by Mabel Lebrero from DATA EVENTOS and the Emilio Mignone's book, Graphic Designer Grafica El Vasco and the fest will raffle also "Afiche" Argentina, A History in Icons and a lot of truco surprises!
