The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Welcomes Hispanic Appointees to Mayor Bowser’s Administration

 Washington, DC  - The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) hosted a breakfast on February 3rd to welcome the four Hispanic appointments to the mayoral administration of Muriel Bowser. At the event, Mayor Bowser, along with Angela Franco GWHCC President and CEO; Mario Acosta Velez, GWHCC Board Chair; Jay Haddock, President of Capital Hotels; and Suites and Hector Torres, Vice President of Capital Hotels and Suites recognized Jackie Reyes, Director the Office of Latino Affairs; Ana Harvey, Director the Department of Small and Local Business Development; Monica Palacio, Director of the DC Office of Human Rights; and Tatiana Torres Morales, Chief of Staff  in the Mayor’s Office of Legal Counsel.

“We feel proud of our Hispanic representation and are confident that they will do a successful job at representing our businesses and community in the District of Columbia,” said Angela Franco, President and CEO of the GWHCC. “The Chamber is here to support and work with them to continue to provide the education and resources our businesses need in order to flourish.”

During the event the Mayor spoke about her new administration and some of the business​-related topics she will focus on during her tenure. "My administration is committed to hiring talented individuals who are representative of the community," said Mayor Bowser.  "The appointment of these outstanding leaders is a reflection of this commitment. Together we will assist Latino businesses to prosper and match them with opportunities in the District of Columbia.”

"As a leading Hispanic chamber of commerce in the region, we commend Mayor Bowser for continuing to ensure Hispanic representation within her administration, and look forward to supporting initiatives to help move Hispanic-owned businesses forward in the District," said Mario Acosta-Velez, GWHCC Chairman.

The event was attended by over 40 Hispanic business leaders from the DC metro region who were delighted to welcome the new administration.
