NATIONAL HISPANIC MEDICAL ASSOCIATION TO HOST COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR

Washington, DC - In conjunction with its 20th annual conference, the National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) and its partners will host a Community Health Fair with important vision and dental screenings.

Envolve’s “SeeMore” vision van will provide free screenings, plus free eye exams to children under the age of 18. Colgate’s “Bright Smiles, Bright Futures” dental van program will provide free education, screenings and treatment referrals to children up to age 12.

In addition to the health screenings, there will be a farmer’s market, BOUNCE and fitness activities for children and giveaways.

WHAT:        Community Health Fair

WHO:          Hosted by the National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) and its partners

WHEN:        Friday, April 22, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

                  Saturday, April 23, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

WHERE:      The West Lawn of Carnegie Library

                  801 K. Street NW

                  Washington, D.C. 20001

WHY:          More than 50 million Latinos live in the U.S., yet for decades Latinos have been denied adequate healthcare access. As a result, there are serious healthcare issues impacting this community, including disproportionate rates of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, depression and other disease killers.
