WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) issued the following statement congratulating House Democratic Caucus Chair and former CHCI Chair, Congressman Xavier Becerra, on receiving this year’s Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) lifetime achievement award on Wednesday, May 4, 2016:

 “APAICS presented its lifetime achievement award to one of the Latino community’s most prominent and respected leaders, Congressman Xavier Becerra. CHCI congratulates him on this well deserved recognition from the Asian Pacific American community. We are proud that Rep. Becerra has been acknowledged for his firm commitment to serving and empowering all communities, not just a select few. This award is also a testament to the strong ties between the Latino and Asian Pacific American communities, which are strengthened through exemplary leaders like Congressman Becerra.”
