The Honorable Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, to Deliver Keynote Remarks at the Inter-American Dialogue’s Leadership for the Americas Awards Gala

WASHINGTON, DC  – The Inter-American Dialogue is honored to announce that the Honorable Mia Amor Mottley, the prime minister of Barbados, will deliver keynote remarks at its Leadership for the Americas Awards Gala on November 12, 2019, at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington, DC. 

The Leadership for the Americas Awards honor individuals and organizations that have dedicated life-long service to the Dialogue’s core mission – advancing democratic governance, social equity, and prosperity in our hemisphere.

Mia Amor Mottley is the 8th Prime Minister of Barbados and the first woman to occupy the office following general elections on May 24, 2018, in which she led the Barbados Labour Party to an unprecedented victory, winning by the largest margin in the electoral history of the country. Currently, the prime minister also holds the portfolios of Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Investment. A member-on-leave of the Dialogue, Prime Minister Mottley will deliver remarks to the more than 300 dignitaries from around the world who are expected to attend the annual event.

This year’s Awards Gala will honor the Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia with the Distinguished Leadership Award for Social EquityCirque du Soleil with its Distinguished Leadership Award for Corporate Citizenship and Alejandro Ramirez Magaña with its Distinguished Leadership Award for Civic Engagement.
