Results of Meeting on Diversity at Department of Interior

Washington, DC - What:  Department of the Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has accepted Blacks In Government DOI Chapter’s request to hold an emergency roundtable meeting on Tuesday, July 13.  Secretary Salazar has designated Chief of Staff Tom Strickland to act on his behalf.


The emergency meeting will address BIG DOI’s White Paper on declining diversity at Interior; the recently released EEOC Report on failing diversity practices at U.S Fish and Wildlife; and, failure to implement corrective employment practices in the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Regulation and Enforcement that fall below those required of private business by the government. Interior has the least diverse work force of any major Federal agency and diversity has continued to diminish in all categories except women.

Where: Steps to main entrance to Department of the Interior, 1849 C St NW, Washington, DC.
Why:   BIG DOI’s delegation and President Kim Lambert will announce the results of the meeting.
